1.31 (Season 1, Update 31)- May 25th, 2020

  • Added new utility: Bandages
    • Heals you to 100HP

  • AI Zombies now disappear after the Tsar Skelly II Boss dies in The Bloc - Siege
  • RPG-7 Reload sound is now in sync with the animation
  • AI Zombies now take fall damage

1.30 (Season 1, Update 30)- May 19th, 2020

  • Added 20 more ranks: 5x Iron, Emerald, Amethyst and Ruby
    • Current rank list from bottom to top: Bronze, Iron, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Amethyst, Ruby, Titanium
    • Your rank name and icon will most likely change, but your rank number stays the same. This means that you can still buy any weapon you planned buying before this update.
  • Added new weapon: SCAR-L
    • Compared to the SCAR-H, it sports higher ammo capacity and firerate at the cost of lower damage and accuracy
    • Compared to other assault rifles, it sports lower vertical recoil at the cost of higher horizontal recoil, as well as similar damage to other 5.56 rifles such as the M4 and M16A1 and great accuracy.
  • Added new menu look
    • Instead of your camera rotating during the intermission, you will instead see your character standing with either his primary and secondary.
    • Each primary and secondary has a cool new pose in the menu.
  • Added a new badge for beating the Tsar Skelly II boss

  • Decreased Tsar Skelly II boss health
  • Changed revive indicator color from red to orange to avoid similarity with the “KILL” indicato

  • Fixed cave glitch spots in The Bloc for zombies

1.29 (BOSS)- May 17th, 2020

  • Added new gamemode: Siege
    • Build to survive waves of zombies and a skeleton boss named Tsar Skelly II at the end of the 10th wave!
    • New map added to go with this gamemode: The Bloc resembling an Eastern European apartment bloc
  • Added a new balancing system. If the survivors have stronger guns, zombies have more health too based on how strong the guns are.
    • Makes the gameplay more interesting for higher ranked players and easier for new players
  • Added a new hot-bar design
    • Will now always show up instead of showing up only when equipping a weapon
    • Now horizontal instead of vertical
  • Added auto reload
    • You can turn this off in the controls tab in the settings
  • Added a new badge: Killed the Creator
    • Kill BakonBot while he is a survivor in a Zombies vs Survivors gamemode to earn this badge!
  • Added an icon for the Fists
  • Guns now go back in first person when shooting (recoil)

  • Improved reviving
    • Reviving other players now gives you 100 D$ and 50 XP
    • When a survivor is dead and needs to get revived, a REVIVE indicator will appear on top of them.
  • Improved mobile controls
    • You can now fly as a jetpack zombie on mobile
    • You can now go back to the menu while in-game on mobile
    • You can now enter first person on mobile
    • You can now taunt on mobile
    • You can now run as a riot zombie on mobile
    • Running has been made easier on mobile
    • Equipping weapons is now done by tapping the icons in the hotbar instead of using the shoulder buttons
  • Extra map detail is now automatically disabled if you are on low graphics levels (1-5)
    • This should reduce lag in Dead Lands on lower end machines
  • Improved Gun Game
  • Survivors that stood on the rescue boat in Rest Station - Campaign are now the only survivors in Coastline - Campaign
  • Roblox Premium members now get 2x higher daily rewards instead of 20% higher
  • If the V.I.P. or all survivors die during the ready-up phase, the round will immediately end instead of ending after the timer runs out

  • Rebalanced the RPG-7
    • Deals much more damage and is able to 1 hit kill a Riot Zombie in most cases
    • Reload time increased (to about 5-6 seconds)

  • Fixed AI Riot Zombies attacking while running
  • Fixed not being able to shoot through the grass in Dead Lands
  • Fixed a bug where you would earn 2 times higher rewards when killing AI Zombies.
  • Fixed zombies being able to damage survivors behind doors or glass
  • Fixed clients having network ownership over AI Zombies
  • Fixed timer stability issues and made it dynamic for internal use only

1.28 (Season 1, Update 28)- March 19th, 2020

  • Added 3 new background music tracks (rock/metal)
  • Added fall damage ( You'll take damage depending on how high the platform is )
    • Added bone breaking sound ( when you take fall damage)
  • New bullet impact and clicking sounds are now implemented to the guns (Clicking is heard when gun is on low ammo)
  • Added a new AI zombie system. (AI Riot Zombies and Juggernauts will run when they have a straight path to you, facing their shield towards you, AI zombies can now climb the rope at Dead Lands)
    • Normal AI zombies will get a custom outfit based on what map you're playing
  • Added 20% higher daily rewards for Premium users

  • Removed “this server is old, please join a new one” notification
    • Will only take effect on Dread 1.29 (BOSS)
  • Removed 1 background music that didn't fit at Dread that well

1.27 (QUALITY OF LIFE UPDATE) - February 20th, 2020

1.17 (SummARR Event Update) - August 30th, 2019

  • New event map: Sweeper Island
    • The pirates have trapped you on an artificial island. The only way to get out is by beating minesweeper with your teammates
      • Once you beat minesweeper, you have to destroy a pirate ship that’s shooting cannons at your island, as well as sending smaller boats filled with zombies and creating tsunamis
      • Destroying the ship will give you 3000 D$ + 1500 XP

  • Join/leave notifications have been replaced with friend join/leave notifications
    • This was done in order to remove unnecessary clutter from the chat. Join notifications are now green, while leave notifications are now red.
  • Data System improved
    • More data failsafes added in order to improve player experience.
    • If you “bounce” (Join and immediately exit) your data won’t be corrupted.
    • If your data doesn’t load, the game will load default data and will NEVER save it for this session, Also added a notification in the chat when this does happen.
  • Server update notifications are now a more standard green
  • Anti-spam message changed
    • Before: You are sending messages too quickly! Take a deep breath and try again.
    • After: You are sending messages too quickly! Calm down and try again later.
  • Health bar rounding changed from floor to ceiling
    • This means that even if you have 0.1 HP, it will show 1 HP instead of 0 HP now

  • XP Boosters fixed. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
  • Starter pack bug fixed. I literally put a . instead of a : and I didn’t know for a long time why it didn’t work. Again, sorry for the inconvenience

  • Changed Grenade explosion range: 16 studs --> 21 studs
    • Full damage range remains the same (10 studs)
    • Hard attacking an enemy with fists will now stun it for 2 seconds

1.16 (Season 1, Update 16)- July 4th, 2019

1.15 (Season 1, Update 15)- June 14th, 2019

  • Spawn locations in Derailed, Bread Corp. and Crystal Caverns have been changed
    • Spawning out of the map shouldn’t occur at all now, let’s hope at least.
  • Weapon, zombie, ammobox and door mesh performance drastically improved
    • Translated to English, this now means the game should run faster for those who have low end CPUs, much like the grass optimization update did for Dead Lands back then
    • If your device still barely runs Dread, even on low settings and every visual setting turned off in Dread, my recommendation would be buying a new device
  • Cancelling out reloads with shotguns has been added back
    • This means, while reloading with a shotgun, you can press the fire/aim down sights button and stop reloading

  • RPG-7 hitboxes should work even better than before
  • Fixed an annoying bug where the minigun windup effect would not sync properly when switching from first to third person and vice versa
  • Fixed a bug where you could get extra ammo in a shotgun with a reload bug
  • Fixed some bugs where first person would look weird after respawning
  • Fixed the bug where turning off bulletholes and tracers would not work
  • Fixed glass unrealistically casting shadows on maps due to a recent Roblox update

  • Weapon stats changed:
    • RPG-7 explosion range: 12 studs --> 16 studs

1.14 (Season 1, Update 14)- May 15th, 2019

  • New Weapon: SCAR-H
    • Primary semi-automatic battle rifle, can be found in the store
  • New Weapon FX system
    • Muzzleflash lights have different colors now
    • The Shokw8vR now has a unique blue muzzleflash light
    • Bullet tracers now look different
    • Bulletholes shouldn’t “fall off” from objects that dissapear during the bullethole’s lifetime
    • The system should work much smoother now
  • Update Assist added!
    • Whenever a new update releases from now on (e.g. 1.15+) you will be notified that a new update has been released and, after the round ends, teleported to a new server with all the players you were playing with before

  • Lighting technology type changed: Legacy --> ShadowMaps
    • This means that Dread supports higher quality shadows and lights now
    • These shadows are disabled at graphics 1-2
    • Some maps will look different now
    • Performance may be affected on some devices. We are looking forward to improving it in the future
  • Gun code has been rewritten from ground-up
    • Various gun bugs have been fixed, such as the minigun bugs
    • Firerate may seem faster, but it’s at the correct speed now, since in the old gun code lag would affect the firerate
    • The RPG-7 rockets should look and work much smoother. No more bad hitboxes!
    • You can’t endlessly reload anymore by equipping 2 weapons constantly. This is not a bug
    • Guns should feel much smoother in general

  • Fixed a leaderboard bug where all players with over 19 kills would be shown to have 19 kills, even if that isn’t true on the server

  • Character rotation has been improved
    • Various clipping issues should be fixed
  • Bug that involves dying while prone, crouching or aiming down sights should be fixed
  • Fixed the bug that allowed players to go out of the map in Bread Corp.
  • Gun receiving in Gun Game should be fixed
  • Taunt animations should stop now when the player dies
  • Fixed bullet and zombie hits not applying any knockback on a target

  • Weapon stats changed
    • RPG-7 Damage is now the same in both PvP and zombie gamemodes (150 DMG)
    • RPG-7 Explosion spread lowered: 30 studs --> 12 studs
    • RPG-7 Rocket speed lowered: 350 studs/second --> 200 studs/second

1.07 (Minigun Update) - February 10th, 2019

  • Co-op's maximum player count increased from 4 to 8.

1.04 (The Christmas Update) - December 12th, 2018

  • Christmas Campaign: 4 waves, 1 boss and defeating the boss gives a special gift.
  • 2 New Gifts: Happy Gift of Participation and Angry Gift of Victory (both can be opened on the 7th of January).
  • Zombies now have Christmas Hat!
  • New countdown system.
  • Pressing I now zooms in your camera, while O zooms out your camera (for players don’t have a mouse wheel).
  • Dead land receive its own Christmas version!
  • 2 Gamemodes: Assassination and Outbreak

  • The store now adapts to your rank and cash in real-time. No longer requires to rejoin to buy weapons.
  • Bulletholes now disappear faster than before.
  • Better spectate system.
  • New Ragdoll system.
  • You cannot camp on the trees in Lost Business anymore.
    • The same goes for the camping spot near the van in Coastline.
  • AI zombies now have a consistent respawn time.
  • Riot zombies are now able to jump, with a con of a lower run speed (while jumping only).
  • Normal Zombie’s kill reward changed: from 20 D$ and 5 XP => 25 D$ and 10 XP

Trivia

  • In Update 1.04, although the gifts could be opened on January 7th, 2019 (a.k.a. the next update), Update 1.05 was delayed up to 20 days.
    • Turns out, the update was planned to be released late to celebrate 2 years Anniversary of Dread.
  • When the game was released, it was very buggy at first, which led to BakonBot rescripting the entire game, taking 11 months to complete the 1.01 update
